Browen was a little overwhelmed by the crowd at first. He's never seen so many people in his house at once. For his birthday Blake and I decorated together the night before. We were more excited to celebrate Browen's birthday than he would have been,even if he had known what was going on. It's true: first birthdays are more for the parent than the child. Browen did enjoy having a large group of familiar faces come to visit him, he also enjoyed the stories we read to the group because they are his favorites (Dinosaur Roar and Hi Pizza Man). The big event was that he got to eat his own cake made by Raven and you can see form the pictures that he was shy at first. He approached the cake with caution. After dad painted a chocolate smiley face on Browen's belly Browen started to warm up to the messy experience. By the end he ate way more cake than any one year old should be allowed to ingest. Browen had some help opening presents form some of the girls in our neighborhood, they were excited for him and couldn't resist the wrapping paper and gift bags. All in all, in was a fun event and great experience for Browen (who took a good 24hrs to come off of the sugar high). Thanks to all who came an participated.

These Men

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Ul7FCCxRGSs/StJbNJV6CSI/AAAAAAAAAv4/90vNmFO1-mg/s400/Blaketex2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5391471985320134946" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Ul7FCCxRGSs/StJbMdTguaI/AAAAAAAAAvw/dd9Y1Hybm_E/s400/BlakeTex.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5391471973498927522" />

Blake went to Texas about a month ago. I was sad to see him go, but excited about the fun he was in store for. He went with long time buddies, Aaron, Jordan, Mark and Scott. They went to the BYU vz Oregon Game at the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium. These are some pics Blake brought back with him. I wouldn't let him take my 'nice' camera, so he took his sweet Kodak easypic. No worries, photo shop gave the images a bit of a color boost (I couldn't help myself).

Don't these men look great? What a fun group of guys. I know Blake wishes he could spend more time with each of them. They are all close to his heart. Growing up happens fast and now that they are each fathers and husbands time together is getting scarcer and scarcer. That's why this trip was a really special thing for him to do.

Not to mention, I got to hang out with Jandee (Jordan's wife) and bask in her creative genius while eating chinese take out and watching a sweet obscure film about Indian immigrants. . .can't remember the title.

conN-GRAD-Ulations! I though that he would be happy to stroll along in his stroller apathetically as Lindsey, Tevin, Bentley, Adoree, and Elise viewed the animals. Instead he was thoroughly engaged in the whole experience and had fun touching and interacting with the farm animals. He giggled when he saw the ducklings, he laughed and squealed when the baby cow licked his toes, and he tried to feed his sacred cheerios to the goat (who was more than willing to taste them). He had a great time and was so interested in the animals that it really surprised me. It made me realize how fast he is growing and learning, and how new and fresh the world must be from his pint sized perspective.
<img style="display:block; I made the Polaroid frame for a photo shop class that I am taking and he looks so cute framed in it! Zachary came over and watched the movie cars with me on Sat. night. I had never seen it, so he dutifully informed me of every characters name. He is such a cute kid, with a memory that is unbelievable. She said that she didn't have one, but that I should look at the food network online.

I took her advice and found an easy recipe with lots of butter and sugar (perfect). I mean LOTS of butter. The recipe was by Paula Deen, who I hear, is all about the butter, sugar, cream, and lard.

Here's the recipe, I have never had such a good cobbler, NOT EVEN FROM A DUTCH OVEN!

the most amazing thing about this is that I didn't mess the recipe up, and I am not a very good baker/chef (those who know me are laughing right now)

Paula's Peach Cobbler

Ingredients
4 cups peeled, sliced peaches
2 cups sugar, divided
1/2 cup water
8 tablespoons butter
1 1/2 cups self-rising flour
1 1/2 cups milk
Ground cinnamon, optional

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Combine the peaches, 1 cup sugar, and water in a saucepan and mix well. Bring to a boil and simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from the heat.

Put the butter in a 3-quart baking dish and place in oven to melt.

Mix remaining 1 cup sugar, flour, and milk slowly to prevent clumping. Pour mixture over melted butter. Do not stir. Spoon fruit on top, gently pouring in syrup. Sprinkle top with ground cinnamon, if using. Batter will rise to top during baking. Bake for 30 to 45 minutes.

To serve, scoop onto a plate and serve with your choice of whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.

Browen's Still Grow'en

Browen has been growing so fast lately. He is crawling faster than I can walk. Because of his new found mobility he has a whole new world to investigate. Some of his favorite things to do include: pulling the toilet paper off of it's roll, pulling up on a chair that mom or dad is sitting on, turning the volume of his 'music' (he loves all my first grade music CDs) up and down, and eating cheerios off the ground when he gets out of his High Chair.

He loves to feed himself cheerios. . .it's become an obsession, really. I don't mind, because they keep him 'regular.'

To celebrate his growth and smiley personality I took him on a photo shoot a few days ago. . .we included his favorite things: cheerios, crawling,crying when he does not get what he wants, investigating, and HIS 4 Little TEETH (2 top 2 bottom) to hear Browen's version of the event. . .see his blog in a day or two.

<img style="display:block; Blake has a family reunion up there every year. Last year I was pregnant with Browen so this year is the first time we took the little guy with us (sans umbilical cord). It was a lot of fun to share our Le-bues (i can't remember how to spell it) raspberry shake obsession with Browen. Blake organized a sweet tennis match with his cousins and we also celebrated Grandma Claire's 8oth birthday (maybe 70th) she looks way younger so I can't remember how old she is. Hanging out on the beach was really relaxing and spending time as a family was wonderful. packing a kid and all his items. . .not so wonderful, nonetheless, I'm glad we went. Fun for ALL!

Visitor/ New Neighbor

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 266px; height: 400px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Ul7FCCxRGSs/Sn70zkOwWlI/AAAAAAAAAk8/FHxxgqA_0uQ/s400/beetle2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5367996972608281170" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Ul7FCCxRGSs/Sn70zdT9HZI/AAAAAAAAAk0/dQLJQE8w78M/s400/beetle1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5367996970751040914" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 266px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Ul7FCCxRGSs/Sn70zIaD65I/AAAAAAAAAks/o5-4wu-luEs/s400/beetle.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5367996965139508114" />

The other day I went to the grocery store with Browen. As we stepped out the door I saw an overturned beetle struggling to right itself. I was in a hurry so said to myself, "he'll be turned over and gone by the time I get back." Off I went to the store with my little man. An hour passed and we returned home. I unloaded the groceries and was surprised to find our beetle friend still stuck just as we left him. This time I took compassion, got my camera ready, and flipped him over with the edge of my flip flop. I was shocked to see his pretty brown stripes and crazy looking feelers. I was expecting a giant cockroach. Well. . .I am now going to research this beetle and figure out exactly what kind he is. After I turned him over and started taking pictures he got a little camera shy and crawled into the bushes. So we have two inch long beetle living in the bushes outside. It's always fun to get a new neighbor, right?

Found out that it is a JUNE Beetle: http://share3.esd105.wednet.edu/rsandelin/Fieldguide/Animalpages/Insects/Beetles.htm

Oh man, I wish I would have picked it up after reading about the cool sound that they make!

How could you not LOVE this guy (and the little one too)?

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 268px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Ul7FCCxRGSs/SndAdrwJYvI/AAAAAAAAAjs/uNo4xyhEutw/s400/043.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5365828359740285682" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 268px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Ul7FCCxRGSs/SndAdIZmvcI/AAAAAAAAAjk/VPFu7zmTsDw/s400/022+(2).JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5365828350250499522" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 268px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Ul7FCCxRGSs/SndAc2a8LNI/AAAAAAAAAjc/eQko4uvN718/s400/photoclasslastweek+005.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5365828345424260306" />

It's Blake's Brithday! He is 27 and showing signs of aging like: going to bed early, becoming deeply involved in politics, taking naps in the afternoon (when he has time), staying home to hang-out with his little fam, getting winded when he runs, listening to KSL instead of music, looking in the mirror and sighing when he sees his no longer '18 year old' muscles.

In my opinion though, he is only getting more awesome as the years go by! Blake is an incredibly involved father, loving and romantic husband, and exceptional person. Back to the Blog

Ha! I have a tough time keeping myself interested in blogging. I like to read other people's blogs, but I have trouble with motivation when it come to creating a new post for my own. Perhaps it is that life is quite unchanging for our little family, or maybe it's that the sun is shining outside and Browen and I would rather sit on a blanket a read a good book (try the 12th tale. . .I loved it). Whatever the reason, here I am, finally writing a blog post.

Today the plumber came and fixed our shower: there was broken glass down the drain, not good for drainage, and draino is useless against it. Hence, the plumber.

Browen: He scoots, He crawls, He sits up, He sits down, he wiggles, he laughs, he naps, he eats solid foods, he is small for his age, he says DAD, WOW, WOA, BABY. . .and most recently JEFF (pronounced 'eff'). He is my favorite thing.

Photography Class: WAS AWESOME. If you want to get some hot pictures of yourself just give me call! OK, really if you would like some 'nice' pictures, I need lots of practice and would love to practice on you (Browen has had enough of my camera snapping at his every move).

Health: Doing a bit better, able to do more and more everyday.

Grocery Shopping: BLAH. . .I do it on Mondays, it's only fun when Adoree meets me there.

Blake: BUSY BOY. working working working. I forgot.
Lost ambitions, Gained perspective.
What was I living for before? I forgot.
Lost sleep, Gained direction.
What was I doing before? I forgot.
Lost time, Gained a purpose.
What happened? I became a mother.

Life has become much simpler over the past months. I am grateful for experiences like this, that have taught me what to cherish, and what to let go of. I don't have the energy for everyone and everything anymore, but I am figuring out how to pace myself to try and fit small things into life again. I take care of Browen each day, and thank God that I have the energy to do that. For me, each day is a miracle, if I choose to recognize it as such.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 268px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Ul7FCCxRGSs/ShbEMVbeK1I/AAAAAAAAAdA/IkN0K-1LBJg/s400/053.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5338670124484143954" />

Couple's Tag

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 268px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Ul7FCCxRGSs/SgJQxNkNB9I/AAAAAAAAAcw/gPrX90XFGuE/s400/254.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5332913715145410514" />
What are your middle names? He would lay his head on his mom's shoulder and stroke her hair ever so gently, never pulling or tugging like the typical infant. Instead of a security blanket he had his mother's head of hair. He was a baby full of cuddles and love.

Personality Trait: Creative Spirit
Brian having been born to parents, who value an active lifestyle, had many opportunities to experience a variety of spots at a young age. A favorite memory is Brian snow skiing at the age of 4. On this particular adventure our mom watched as he skied over to a row of orange cones lined up along the trail. Instead of zigzagging between the cones like all the children in the ski school Brian's creative mind told him simply to spread his legs and proceed. From our mothers point of view it appeared as if he was going to crash into the first cone. Rather than crash or go around the cones he went over the cones. Brian has always had an ability to think outside the box.

Personality Trait: Stubborn
When Brian was just 6 he learned to water ski. He was fearless and brave as he strapped on his snoopy skis and waded behind the boat with his mother. His mom and dad had ever so thoughtfully reminded him that when he wanted to stop he could signal with the cut sign. However, he was never informed that he could let go of the rope if he fell back into the water. As the boat engine stated Brian popped right out of the water and skied successfully for a few seconds before toppling back over into the water. He held onto the rope stubbornly and emerged holding the rope with one hand, and using the other to signal cut, cut while dragging behind the boat.

Personality Trait: Imagination
In his elementary days Bran became fond of legos. he looked forward to each new lego set and would get right to work building the design enclosed in the box. He would then improve upon the design and engineer modifications. At various times there where lego fortresses, cities, and mobiles spread over his bedroom floor and creeping out to other areas of the house. Brian could entertain himself for hours with his wonderful imagination.

Personality Trait: Always Ready for Adventure
Brian was notorious for "valuing his sleep" further exhibiting his stubborn trait he was impossible to wake up in the morning, unless it was 4am and the person waking him up was dad with a fishing pole. Brain would be up in a grogy yet invigorated state, quickly throwing clothes on and running out the door ready for the exciting activity that was in store for him.

Some other fond memories we have of Brian during his early and middle childhood include convertible rides with his mom, early artistic drawings and sketches brought home from school, and snowmobiling as a family. Brian expressed his joy in these activities and often referred to snowmobiling as "the second happiest day of my life". To which we all would wonder, "WHAT was the first?"

Personality Trait: Energy
In his early adolescence Brian took up skate boarding. He went through more skateboards than can be counted by wearing one after another out. He built ramps with his friends and pracitced tricks day in and day out, for hours at a time. When he would finally get a trick just perfect he would run inside to find a family member willing to watch him. We all have memories of Brian skateboarding and the amount of energy that he put into it.

Personality Trait: Musicality
Brian also took an interest in playing guitar, and later playing the drums. His ability to listen and catch on to music had always amazed me. Particularly when I would spend hours practicing a song on the guit ar; only to have Brian watch me play it a couple of times and then turn around and strum out something remarkably similar to what i had just played.

Personality Trait: Quick Mind
Several years after High school ended Brian set out to get his GED. We all counseled him to study hard, take his time, and persist if he didn't pass the first time. Well, Brian didn't listen to us, and instead passed without studying at all. He is gifted with a quick mind that allowed him to develop his musicality and artistic abilities more rapidly than most.

Our son, brother and uncle passed away on March 26, 2009. Brian E. Lee was born on November 19, 1987 in Ithaca, New York to his parents Edgar and Trish Lee. He is the youngest of 3 children. Brian came into the world with energy, spunk, and two beautiful dimples. As a child he developed a love for animals and had a wide variety of pets. He enjoyed the outdoors and active sports such as wakeboarding, snowboarding, skiing, skateboarding, golfing, and fishing. He also enjoyed socializing with his peers. Brian had a creative spirit and a unique ability to learn quickly. His talents and presence will be greatly missed by his family.

<img style="display:block; Browen is 5 months old now, and is doing all sorts of new things: razzing, pulling his socks off his feet, laughing at Blake's king-fu moves. He is so much fun and such a happy little guy. I will be posting a whole slew of pictures of him in the coming days. but first I want to switch subjects and explain an issue I am having called. . . dental anxiety.

Tomorrow @ 10:30 I have to get a crown. I have never undergone a 'crowning' process with any of my pearly whites. I am nervous. I have a friend who has recently had surgery on kidney. . . she had a right to be NERVOUS. DO I??? not really. Crowns are quite common place in the dental work world. But for whatever reason, I start to sweat just thinking about the shots, the numb, the drilling. . . .ahhhhhhhh. Laughing gas, you say? ha. . . I say, gas of hyperventilation and nausea. ohh me ohh my. what a day it will be.

on another note: I read a book I HATED. . . just so you all know: I HATE "everything is illuminated" by Jonathan Safran Foer I usually love/ like most books, can find positive traits in them at least. This one did have some funky and unique literary devices, even hilarious parts where the English language was butchered beautifully by a Ukrainian character. . . .but overall...uhg. . . not the book I was expecting with all the 'genius hype' surrounding it. WHY DID I FINISH IT? well, I have trouble not finishing things and also I was hoping that the 'genius' would reveal itself to me and suddenly 'everything would be illuminated.' Please don't waste your time. . . and if you did. . .I am sorry. AND if you liked it, good for you, it's a free country.

and because we can't end this post with such negativity: YAY for St. Patrick's Day. . . Let's all GO GREEN!!!!!!!

Been a WHILE!

Well follow bloggers,

It has been a while since I blogged. to make a long story short: I have not been feeling well for a couple months. without boring you with details. . .I have been on a roller coaster ride with my health for a couple years now and after my baby came I think the lack of sleep sent me into another spin. I am starting to do a bit better now.

Since I have not had energy for things like work, walks, cooking and cleaning, I have read a lot of books. I have also re-read a bunch of favorites. last year i was sick like this for a few months and I couldn't even read. . . .THAT WAS THE WORST. at least i can read this time!

So because I thought it would be fun to see what everyone else thinks about when reading these books, I made a book blog where you can go make comments about books. This is mostly because I really like knowing other thoughts and perspectives about the books that I read, but I don't get out much to discuss them right now. So if you feel like satiating my hunger for literature discussion go visit my book blog and tell me what you thought/think/know/like/dislike/etc. I will be updating it regularly with new books too!

www.bodyofbooks.blogspot.com

Here is a random picture of Browen with his cousins at Christmas. . . .CUTE CUTE CUTE.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Ul7FCCxRGSs/SZ242C73_LI/AAAAAAAAATI/L6YNb1n8rbA/s320/DSC_0012.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5304599174752763058" />

Hair Today. . . Gone Tomorrow!

I meant to publish this post a month ago. . . but didn't get around to it

I've been thinking about cutting my hair off for almost a year. I'm avery thoughtful person and rarely make decisions without a thorough analysis of the possible outcomes. That being said: I know that my hair will never be long and shiny again, but I AM TOTALLY OK WITH THAT!

Why a new haircut feels so great:

When the stylist snips that ponytail off your head all of the past four years falls to the floor and a new future begins.

I will be donating this ponytail to locks-of-love. I'm really proud of myself because this is the third super long ponytail that I have donated to them during my lifetime (that's a lot of hair growth people).

anyways, who ever said that short hair wasn't versatile?

Thanks for your artistic hair styling/coloring/cutting abilities Kylee Hammer!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 134px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Ul7FCCxRGSs/ScJ1st0jzAI/AAAAAAAAAUg/84GpkDlifyI/s200/067.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5314939921325345794" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 134px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Ul7FCCxRGSs/ScJ1sTgZjdI/AAAAAAAAAUY/lI_yMKOjZqY/s200/066.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5314939914261466578" />
